Traditional Chinese Medicine
“Wellness through Guidance”
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) refers to the comprehensive medical system originating in China over two thousand years ago. This system includes a wide array of medical practices all of which share a common theoretical understanding of what is good health, and how to achieve and maintain it. The essential difference between Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine is that the former aims to treat the symptoms of a disease, while the latter aims to diagnose the patterns of a disorder and treats by bringing the body into homeostasis (balance).
TCM offers accurate diagnosis, effective treatments and clear guidelines for prevention and treatment of illness. As one of the oldest medical systems in the world, TCM is used by over one third of the world’s population, providing safe and effective health care. It has gained worldwide recognition for its ability to effectively address many modern diseases.
TCM treatment modalities include acupuncture, electro-acupuncture (micro-voltage stimulation of acupuncture points), moxabustion (heat treatment), herbal medicine, Tui Na (oriental massage therapy), cupping therapy (glass jar suction on skin surface), exercise (Tai Qi, Qi Gong), diet and lifestyle recommendations.
